Equalling the likes of the Champs-Elysees in Paris and Calle Serrano in Madrid, it’s the one place I think I’d find myself most at home.

A woman can justify any shopping trip. The excuse varies from being a cause of celebration or for the therapeutic qualities shopping offers. The natural buzz achieved from shopping may come at a cost, but that cost is always worth it, as any woman can tell you.

女性はショッピングが大好き。「○○祝いだから」とか「うっぷんを解消するため」だとか色々と言い訳をつけてはショッピングを楽しむ。出費に痛い思いをするときもあるけれど、ショッピングの快感に比べたらそんな出費はたいしたものでないと、どの女性も口を揃えて言うだろう。

As a true shopaholic, I’ve visited many cities in the world, with one item bought from an exclusive shop or local designer to add to my many collections. In Madrid it was shoes, in Paris it was handbags, in Mumbai it was clothes, in London it varies extensively as it is the city I live in. I feel like the world is my oyster as I walk down the busy streets of London. I’ve spent many hours pacing the streets of Oxford Street, Bond Street, Knightsbridge and Kensington. All in search for that particular handbag, those exact pair of shoes, or that precise dress I saw in a certain magazine. The exhilarating feeling of walking out of a shop with Armani or Gucci written on a bag, or even the brightest, most recognisable yellow of a Selfridges carrier bag is one, which I’ve yet to equal to anything else.

典型的なショッピング中毒者として、私は世界中の都市を訪れては、高級ブティックや現地発のデザイナーズショップなどで買い物をし、マイコレクションを増やしている。マドリードでは靴、パリではハンドバッグ、ムンバイでは服を調達し、ロンドンは自分の住んでいる都市だけあって色々な物を買い込んでいる。人ごみで溢れ返ったロンドンの街を歩くたびに、まるで「世界は私のためにある」ような錯覚に陥ってしまうのだ。だからいつも長い時間をかけては、オックスフォードストリートやボンドストリート、ナイツブリッジやケンジントン地区を行ったり来たりしている。あらゆる所を探して購入した気になるハンドバッグやコレと思った靴やドレスなどは、愛読している雑誌で見つけたものだ。アルマーニやグッチのロゴが入った袋をもって店を出る時の爽快感がたまらず、一目でわかるセルフリッジの派手な黄色い袋でさえも（私の中ではまだ一種のステータス感があるのだが）晴れ晴れとした気分になってしまう。

Obviously, this now means that I know of every single designer handbag available. My next shopping expedition, if things go according to plan would have to take place in Tokyo. After years of hearing how great the shopping is over there, I’d love to visit the busy Ginza district for my shopping. Equalling the likes of the Champs-Elysees in Paris and Calle Serrano in Madrid, it’s the one place I think I’d find myself most at home.? The appealing factor is most obviously the big brand names on offer, as well as some of the best restaurants and nightclubs available.

当然ながら、どのデザイナーのどんなバッグが流行っているかは知ってるつもり。さて、次の買い物旅行は、うまく計画が進めば東京になるだろう。ずっと東京が買い物天国だという評判を聞いてきているだけに、ぜひ行ってみなくては。特に銀座辺りは要チェック。お気に入りのパリのシャンゼリゼや、マドリードのセラーノ通りのように、東京銀座も思う存分に楽しめるだろうと思う。何と言ってもその魅力は、高級ブティックが建ち並び、おしゃれなレストランやクラブがたくさんあるから。

However, my shopping won’t just be limited to Ginza, I’d have to visit other department stores available in Shinjuku, Shibuya, Aoyama and Omotesando. These department stores cater to a variety of tastes such as sports shops, music stores, women’s and men’s fashion, interior decoration and many more.

もちろん私のショッピングは銀座だけではおさまらず、新宿や渋谷のデパート、青山や表参道にも足をのばしてみたい。デパートに行けば、色々なお客の層に応えて婦人、紳士系のフロアからスポーツ用品、レコード、音楽関係、インテリア雑貨など幅広く揃っている。

Although, after all this shopping if there’s still some time to spare and I’ve now had to learn to budget myself. I’d love to visit the busy market of Amekoyo. I think I would definitely call Tokyo a brilliant holiday with this shopping “plan” of mine. At least I would have exposed myself to a variety of different shopping experiences in a short period of time, all I need to do now is to start saving up for this holiday and make sure I take my credit cards with me.

一通りショッピングが終わり、さらに時間が空くなら、予算内で買い物をする術も身につけておかなくてはならない。なぜなら、たくさんの店や人たちで活気あるアメ横の商店街にも行ってみたいから。あくまでも「計画」だが思い通りにいけば、絶対に充実した時間が過ごせるだろう。

まずはその前に、計画実現に向けた資金作りとクレジットカードを作らなくては。
