The UK’s first manga cafe has finally arrived in the culturally diverse Brick Lane of East London. Bodhi simplistically and elegantly combines an art gallery (with changing exhibitions), a sushi bar (which also sells Chicken Teriyaki with Miso soup for an amazing £3.50), and an extensive manga library - which sells popular manga posters, t-shirts and other goodies, and houses over 11,000 (and rising) volumes of Japanese Manga, both in English and Japanese.
ロンドンの東に位置する文化のるつぼの街、ブリックレーンについに漫画喫茶が登場した。BODHIは簡素ながらも洗練された雰囲気のあるアートギャラリーであり、すしバー（照り焼きチキンにみそ汁が付いてなんと£3.50）も兼備え、種類豊富な漫画喫茶である-人気漫画のポスターやT-シャツそしてちょっとしたものも販売しており、11,000冊以上に及ぶ日本の漫画を日英両言語で揃えている。
Bodhi opened in Late April 2007 and is currently exhibiting the beautiful works of Kotaro Hatch (Japanese calligrapher). Manga lovers can relax in the basement of Bodhi, which encompasses a uniquely Japanese style and atmosphere, while reading manga in secluded comfy chairs, with free internet access and hot and cold drinks. ロンドン・ビクトリア駅から乗り換え無しで電車で２時間弱。日帰りで気軽に行けるにも関わらず、ここセブンシスターズは、都会では絶対に味わうことのできないダイナミックな自然の絶景を楽しむことができるおすすめスポット。
The Seven Sisters Country Park is a beautiful spot where you can enjoy the magnificent scenery that you can never be seen in crowded cities. It takes less than two hours from London Victoria Station, so it is possible to make a day trip to Seven Sisters from London.
イーストボーン駅からバスで20分ほどの人気のないバス停を降り、海岸方面に散歩道を歩くこと30分弱。この散歩道がまた良い。のどかに流れる川や、池を優雅に泳ぎまわる白鳥達、どこまでも続く野原に雪綿のように散らばる羊たち、いかにもブリティッシュな田舎の景色を眺めながら歩いていくと、突然大海原と白亜の絶壁が見えてくる。
I got off at a lonesome bus stop which is 20 minutes away from Eastbourne station, and walked along a path towards the seaside. The scenery from the path was fantastic! I could see not only a murmuring brook but also swans resting elegantly on the water, and a flock of sheep like large snow flakes scattered in the large green field. While I walked the path seeing such peaceful “British” rural scenery, suddenly the mighty ocean and a huge white wall appeared in front of me.
この白い巨大な壁は、一億年以上前の白亜紀に形成された石灰質の地層によるものだとのこと。ちなみにこの壁の上の部分にも上ることができる。断崖絶壁から見下ろす海もスリル満点である。このセブンシスターズは観光スポットにしては観光客はかなり少なく、日が落ちてくると殆ど人影を見かけなくなるほどだ。もちろんお土産物屋などもない。白亜の壁を赤く染めながら沈んでいく夕日の眺めは一生の思い出になること間違いないだろう。
This white cliff is called “Seven Sisters”, and its white color is due to the calcareous geologic layer which was formed in the Cretaceous period (more than 100 million years ago). In fact, it is possible to climb up to the top of the white cliff, and it is full of thrills to look down at the ocean from the top of the towering cliff. There are only few visitors there while it is one of the tourist’s spots in the UK, and there are no souvenir shops, so it remains a native beauty. It must become one of your lasting memories to see the great sunset which turns the white cliff into a pink hue. I highly recommend people to visit the Seven Sisters Country Park.
